My Written Statement
My Written Statement
It’s just going to begin the same way it started
Everyone's waiting for my bus to arrive
Late- anticipation inflates the expectation
Sit, sit, sit
Rest your weary legs- throbbing back
Fill your chest with air and hold
Remember that feeling
Alive but limited- restricted and bound
When you exhale- remember me
The same reason why I can’t finish a damn book
Spinning and twisting towards the words
And back to myself
Round the long way- never too far
So many manifestations
Tears, song, restlessness, exhaustion
Words are bigger than smaller- louder to whispers
Longing
Longing for consistency- whole searching for blips, curves
And bumps
More more
Both- it always has to be both
Death and song- food and sadness
Sex and
Sometimes it feels so real
Burning on my lips
I have seen pain, the tears
The jubilation, the agony
Call out- call out
Brother in my hands
Sister in defiance and displacement
Get up high- pull my hair
Call out
Kick the pail of rain water over
Call out
I do not understand
Call out
We fear this place- call out
Someone touch my face- call out
Where is the light when I am awake
Who birthed this anger, this hate
Call out
Louder
I’ve lost my balance- can’t think straight
Lets shuffle along- buddies in tow together
Call out
Make your noise
Your peace- your pain
My reality and justice
Emancipation- call out
Empty the cavities within your soul
Sweep out the corners and push
Call out
Collapse and fold
Release and punctuate
This is all I have
All I am capable of rationalizing- creating
Close and rest
Rest.
