A Brief Reminder
A Brief Reminder
He sits and stares
Curled into the corner
Inconsistently peeking out
The window then darting
Back to the paper
The paper
The reliable companion
Trusty crutch
Silent contributor to
The madness within him
It burns low and
Steady
Flaring at predictable
Times as
Frequently
As it pops during
Triggered moments
Of unintentioned emotions.
He finds himself
Tying knots as he
Moans of restriction
And tethering obligations.
He hears music as he
Falls asleep
It plays for him
Soothing his aching bones
As the weight of
His daily words and
Deeds loom heavy on his body.
Different from the
Music he plays
For himself throughout
His waking and working
Hours.
The melodies that
Play for him as he
Grasps for sleep is
Different.
It commands the moment
And demands his attention
With the firm, warm
Lovingness of a grandfather's hand
The music
Strongly guides him toward
What he neither wants nor needs
Above it, beyond it
But towards what he is
Brings him down to where he
Feels the very texture
The fabric of this making- his essence
A brief reminder- before sleep
