Triggers

Triggers

Triggers,
Triggers, triggers
And I’m off again.
Dancing when I said I wouldn’t
Crying when it’s not the end
Watching when I said I would read.
I secretly long to see my
Name
On everything,
Searching feverishly for those
Four letters
Perfectly aligned
Nestled together in flawless
Order- in harmony.
On occasion, I write my
Name- sign my name over and over
An autograph bonanza
Then from out of nowhere
Something changes and
I’m off the rails again.

Running faster than my legs
Can move
Unable to grab hold
Unable to make the brakes catch
And I’m off
Gasping when surrounded by air
Holding on when I’m already on the
Ground
Drowning out of water
And in brief moments
I not only feel lost or trapped
But
In the moment
For a moment
I forget what I felt like
Before the
Trigger
