I Merely Supply

I Merely Supply
I am alive among the living

Slumber among the sleeping
Cheer among the adoring.
I stand, speak, walk
Among the average, in tune and
In step.
I am a drink in a Pacific wave
A chip of a Rocky peak
A stalk in a Midwestern field
A grain in an Atlantic shore
Composed of Eastern flesh
Grown in Western sun
I sit where I am sat
And eat what I am fed
Dressed in gifts
Wrapped in uniform bliss
I am among the peace, the tranquil,
And the calm.

This flesh is semi-permeable.
In comes love, betrayal, friendship-
Both crucial and peripheral-
Philosophies, languages, knowledge
Light and dark.
The matter of exit is my battle
For my cause.
Inside, among organs carrying on the
Routines of my
Physiological life, is a battlefield.
The space was conceived for war
No aspirations to ascend or be free
But born to facilitate the aggression
Framed in my life is the war for my purpose.

Arrive at ground zero
Tour a camp in which a cause
Strategies- half the day spent in camp
Half in combat
Everyday brings the unhindered entrance
Of the new
Some joining existing camps
Others constructing new.
The objective is clear
They all fight- in
My name- in hopes
Their cause will win a place
In my purpose-
My cause.
In my name
They fight
In my name
They die
In my name
They live
I do not enlist in the war,
I merely supply my name.
